Story Booklet - Out Now!

Stories Booklet SN updated.jpg

Over the past year, we have been collecting stories of encounters with God in and through our church family. It has been so exciting to see the ways God has moved and so we’ve put a collection of stories together in a booklet!

We’re so grateful to God for all He does among us. Stories are a great way to encourage each other with what God is doing in our everyday lives; they remain us that God is keen for a relationship with us and wants to partner with us to bring in His kingdom around us. We hope that reading this booklet will encourage us all, remains us to be thankful and help us get closer to God.

Digital Worship Night

Worship Night Jul20 SN copy.jpg

Worship is the highest priority in the Vineyard and we really miss worshipping together. So, on Sunday 19th July at 7pm on Zoom we are having a digital worship night!

Our worship leaders will lead us from their respective homes, and everyone else will be on mute (so you can sing as in tune or out of tune as you like and no one will know!)

The set list will be available in advance so you can load up the lyrics on a screen or print them out, whatever works for you.

This will obviously be a bit different to the worship nights we are used to but we are confident that God will show up as he so faithfully does.

You can find the event link in our facebook group. If you are not part of our facebook group but are interested in attending, please shoot us an email to office@kingdomvineyard.com !

Easter with Kingdom Vineyard

FB Event ALL.jpg

Easter is fast approaching and throughout this time of confusion and fear we think it is important that we still dedicate this time to God, and to reflect on these events, even if we can't meet together! We're excited to celebrate together, even if this looks a little different to usual.

pilgrimage walk.jpg

The churches of St Andrews have in previous years joined together in a ‘Pilgrimage Walk’ of faith, meeting in a spot in St Andrews, and walking to various landmarks around the town, carrying a cross, and representatives of the churches share a short Bible reading and reflection together, to follow Jesus’ journey to the cross. This year will be a ‘virtual’ pilgrimage walk, via a livestream from 5-6pm. This is the link :  https://www.facebook.com/CornerstoneStAndrews/live/

Good Friday Service

We think it is important to spend time reflecting on the events of Good Friday before we can fully experience the joy of Easter Sunday so on Friday 10th April at 7pm we will have a livestream service with a time of worship and a reflection on the cross. The link to the service is here. The end of the service will lead straight into our Scattered 24 Hour Prayer.

Scattered 24 Hour Prayer

One of the things we love to do as a church is set aside 24 hours for continuous prayer. And even though we can’t meet together to do this, it feels especially important to be spending dedicated time praying during these uncertain times and even more so on Easter weekend.

So, much like the rest of our usual church activities at the moment, 24 hour prayer is happening at your house!

From 8pm on Friday 10th till 8pm on Saturday 11th April we’ll be praying for KV, East Fife and further afield. We’ve put together a sign-up sheet (link below), and we would love you to sign up to pray from your homes for as many hours as you want.

Sunday Morning Service

On Easter Sunday morning we’ll be having a livestream service at 10:10 for at 10:30 start on our youtube channel. ! Although we cannot physically gather together we are excited to be able to come together online. Grab yourself a cup of coffee and a doughnut if you have one and let’s celebrate Jesus together.

Day of Prayer and Fasting (1st April)

banner.jpg

In light of the current crisis, several of the congregations of St Andrews are calling for a day of prayer and fasting in St Andrews and the surrounding area on Wednesday, 1 April 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. We believe that this is a moment for all people to turn to the true and living God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that we must all seek God’s guidance for the good of our local community, our nation, and our world.

We invite all who desire to join with us from wherever you reside to fast and pray in the name of Jesus on 1 April as you are able. Please feel free to fast in the way you see fit – perhaps by skipping a meal, or by not watching television, or by staying off social media.

Although physically separated, we will all be praying together that God would bring healing to our world in the midst of the devastation being caused by the coronavirus. We remember that God, our creator and our saviour, is the only one with full authority over the present situation.

As part of the day of prayer and fasting there will be two hours of worship and prayer that will be live-streamed that day, one in the morning (9:00-10:00) and one in the evening (8:00-9:00).

The services will be streamed on the Baptist Church’s facebook page (www.facebook.com/StAndrewsBap) and website (www.standrewsbaptist.org.uk) for you to tune in.

Coronavirus Update

Hi friends, we wanted to post a short video to let you know how we’re responding to the developing situation of coronavirus. I shared this at this morning’s service, but for anyone who missed it, we wanted to update you, too.

Some of the national Vineyard Movement conferences have been cancelled, and I can tell you also that our own leadership and Trustees, here at Kingdom Vineyard, have been really wrestling with the best course of action in light of the spread of COVID-19, how to “not give up meeting together”, as scripture urges us, without being part of the problem of spreading the virus. How to connect without causing harm.

So far, the government advice does not instruct meetings of our size to stop, and so whilst that is the case, our leadership and Trustees have not decided to cancel Sunday morning meetings for the time being, but, we will be keeping an eye on the situation, and making that decision week by week.

Similarly, we’re keen to keep meeting as Homegroups until it is considered unwise to do so, and we will communicate any changes about Homegroups or about Sunday morning services to you through our church website, through our church Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts, and through an email that we will send out your ChurchSuite accounts (if you don’t have one, talk to your Homegroup leader, or Rachel or I). If you don’t have a Homegroup leader, I recommend you get one of those, too.

We think it’s important that as church we continue to meet to pray and worship together, if we can do so, but with some precautions taken to make sure that if we do continue to meet, we do so sensibly, and seeking to care for each other and the community around us.

This has some practical implications around the things we do at our Sunday services – this morning we offered refreshments, but in a way that protected hygiene as strictly as we could. We didn’t pass around the offering baskets, so everybody would touch them, but instead placed them at the back of the hall, and we asked people praying to “hover their hands” over each other, rather than lay on hands. Of course, we want to continue praying for each other, and especially praying for the sick to get well, but we don’t want to encourage contact that could endanger each other whilst we’re doing so.

But in both Sundays AND in Homegroups, PLEASE BE WISE – the current NHS advice is that if you have either a “new persistent cough”, or a temperature of 37.8°C or above, please follow the government instruction to stay at home for 7 days, and not risk infecting each other.

Also, if you’ve been at one of our gatherings, like either a Sunday morning or a Homegroup, and you do develop these symptoms, please would you let us know? We want to do our best to care for everybody that we can.

We can expect that in the coming weeks we will be asked to stop our Sunday morning services. If that happens, we will work to make sure that we can still worship together through the wonders of the internet and things like live streaming.

That’s the practical side. As well as that, I want to just say a little about us, as the people of God, in the midst of this whole situation.

Yes, the coronavirus pandemic is without precedent in modern times. Yes, there is a lot of scary stuff in the news at the moment, and we should be concerned for our vulnerable friends and family members, and for our healthcare workers.

But we are not a hopeless people.

In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, we have the opportunity to be a people of prayer, as well as people of precautions. People of peace, amongst a people in panic.

  • We know from experience that Jesus heals today, through our prayers. So please, do, be praying.

  • We know that Jesus meets with us, today, when we invite Him. So please, do, be inviting Jesus to meet with us and with everyone we can possibly think of to pray for.

  • We know that the peace that Jesus gives, a true peace, not a sticking-plaster, and that His is a peace that surpasses all understanding. So please, spend time with Jesus and rest in His peace.

  • We know that people around us will need the peace and presence of Jesus in their lives even more than they normally would (if that’s possible), and that we Kingdom Carriers are the antidote to the Fear Oppressed. Now is the time to introduce people to Jesus.

  • And lastly, we know that people around us will need some practical help in the coming weeks. We have the hope of Jesus, and the heart of Jesus, and we are the very people called by God to look after the vulnerable in times of trouble.

o   If you have a neighbour, or someone you know who needs help (going shopping for them, etc), now will be the time to step up.

o   If you have two packets of pasta, and your neighbour has none, now will be the time to give.

o   If the world’s answer to coronavirus news is to raid the shelves, let us be the people who love the vulnerable, who remember the lonely, and who love our communities in real, practical ways.

Please do keep an eye out for future updates, and until then, God bless you.

Jim.

New Years Day with Kingdom Vineyard

NY Beach Walk sunday notice.jpg

We're thrilled to be meeting together as family to kick off 2020 - and would love for you to join us for our family beach walk on New Years' Day, and blow away some of the holiday cobwebs.

Meet at 2pm at the Seashell Cafe on West Sands, on January 1st. It'll be a fun time to spend together.

We'll also be meeting together afterwards for a prayer meeting, at 4pm, to start the year in prayer.

WE'VE MOVED

After 7 wonderful years of being based at 62a Largo Road our lease has come to an end; we are packing up our things and moving out! This place has been such a blessing to us but we are excited for the things that God has for us!

Over the past few months we have been obedient to what we believe God called us to do (refrain from strategising and instead wait for his solution), a number of options presented themselves to us. One option appears to be ideal, and if you've read the local papers recently, you already have an inkling. The North East Fife Community Hub have been successful in their application for a community asset transfer of the St David's Centre, Albany Park, St Andrews, and it's our intention to move in there alongside them.

This will hopefully happen within the next 6 months.

Until then however we have put the following plans in place for the running of Storehouse and the church office.

(There are NO changes to our Sunday morning venue!!)

Storehouse Drop-ins

Storehouse drop-ins will continue uninterrupted, moving alongside the Community Hub’s cafe based in the hall of St Andrews Episcopal Church as of Tuesday 26th November. These drop in times will remain the same, 11am-1pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

So, if you are in need of food the place to go is the St Andrew’s Episcopal Church Hall.

Church office

In the interim period before our planned move to the St. David’s Centre, the church office will be based at Mount Melville! We are excited about this new office space that will serve us well as a temporary home!

The new office address is:

Finally the best way to get in touch with us during this season of transition is via email office@kingdomvineyard.com - it may take some time for us to get our phone lines sorted!

Please continue to pray for us as we move and as we settle in to our new temporary homes! God is at work!

Christmas at KV

This year at Kingdom Vineyard, we have decided to call our advent series “The light came down”. We’re so excited to move into this time of year with you all!

Aside from our Sunday services, our Christmas worship night is on Sunday 8th December beginning at 7pm in the Victory Memorial Hall, and will include a mixture of familiar worship songs from Sunday mornings and some classic Christmas carols.

This event is open to everyone, so come along, invite your friends and let's worship Jesus together!

Prayer Meeting

facebook event banner.jpg

One of our key values in Kingdom Vineyard is prayer. We believe that everything we do needs be covered in it and we highly value creating space to listen to God and his leading.

Our monthly prayer meeting is time to do just that. It will be on Monday 4th November 8-9pm in the Vineyard Centre. Please join us as we gather to spend time with Jesus and cover the work of God in the church and East Fife in prayer. We would love to see you there!

Reading with the Spirit - October

Screen+Shot+2019-10-01+at+18.25.18.jpg

Last year we worked through the bible in a year, this year we're still reading Scripture, but in an entirely different way - using an ancient spiritual practice called Lectio Divina.

This involves taking a short passage (approx 10 verses) and reading it slowly, prayerfully and repeatedly. We're not trying to analyse or understand, but instead we're inviting the Holy Spirit to use the words of Scripture to speak to us, today.

Lectio Divina isn't reading Scripture for information; it's listening to God for our transformation.

As before, daily posts will appear on our facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/2072806539642564/) with a passage of Scripture we can all use together.

For those not on facebook, a monthly post here will go up including the readings for that month. See October’s below and pick up a flyer with lectio divina instructions at the noticeboards on a Sunday morning.

24 Hour Prayer

IMG_3969.jpg

One of our key values at Kingdom Vineyard is prayer. We believe it’s the wellspring of all God’s work in and through the church. And so, we want to set aside a space and a time where we can focus on just that: praying.

We’ll be hosting 24 hours of prayer starting Friday 11th October at 7pm at the Vineyard Centre. Everyone is welcome to get involved, and we’d love this to be a time where people from all different churches pray together for God’s work in and around the town.

This time round the theme is "Sit with Him". In a period of busyness, or just the rhythms of our daily lives, it's incredibly important to take time just to be with God. The stations will be focused around sitting and being in God's presence, and spending time with Him.

If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to see you, and you can use the following link to sign up for a slot:
