We can take 9 principles for following Jesus, in our day-to-day lives, from this story of Him sending out 72 of His disciples on a mission trip 2000 years ago. Which of these 9 areas might the Lord be inviting you to readdress today?
It is central to our calling as followers of Jesus to seek to hear his voice, and then do what he says. In this passage, Jesus explains that you can tell who hears his words and truly receives them, because their lives and actions are changed.
John the Baptist preaches the good news of Jesus' arrival, but not in the way we're necessarily used to these days. The classic phrase "come as you are but don't stay as you are" helps us understand what John is speaking about here and challenges us to come back to God and recommit ourselves to doing what He's saying to us today.
God is faithful to save His people. He raises us up from sitting in the shadow of death and into His light. He then sends us out with life-giving purpose, to serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness. What does that mean and what might all that look like for us today?
We continue in our 1 John series by looking at what John thinks true love is, why loving the Church is vital and how it's so important for us to listen to Jesus and do what he says. It's all fundamental to us being the people of God, the Church.
Just as the angels surrounded the shepherds 2000 years ago, the glory of God is shining all-around us. What does His glory look like, what does it tell us about Him and how does it make us feel? God is inviting us to enjoy the glory of His presence with that 'wow' inducing feeling of wonder.
In today's passage Pilate asks "what is truth?". In this sermon we take a look at the theme of 'the truth', throughout John's gospel, and see what it might mean for us to love the truth and hear His voice.
In the midst of difficult situations, what are we longing for?
In this next section of Acts, Luke tells three stories about disciples getting trained up in the Church. What can we learn from their experiences and how can we become better disciples of Jesus?
We hear stories, and read in the Bible, of times when people have received gifts of the Holy Spirit. What are these gifts? What is their purpose? How do we seek them? In this talk, we begin to answer these questions and find that it all comes back to relationship.
